Speech-language pathology billing
Billing for SLP practices: untimed treatment codes, evaluations, swallowing services, the GN modifier and authorizations for pediatric and adult care.

How speech therapy billing works
Unlike most PT and OT codes, the main speech treatment code 92507 is untimed: it is billed once per session regardless of length. Evaluations are coded by type, such as sound production or language comprehension and expression.
Codes we bill every day
| Code | What it covers |
|---|---|
| 92507 | Speech, language and voice treatment, individual (untimed) |
| 92508 | Group speech treatment |
| 92521–92524 | Evaluations of fluency, sound production, language and voice |
| 92526 | Treatment of swallowing dysfunction |
| 92610 | Clinical swallowing evaluation |
| GN | Speech-language pathology plan of care |
Code descriptions are summarized. Payer coverage and documentation rules vary by plan and state.
Denials we prevent
- 92507 billed in multiple units
- Missing GN modifier
- Evaluation code not matching the area evaluated
- Authorizations exceeded
- Developmental services excluded under some plans
