How medical supply billing works

Supplies are billed with HCPCS Level II codes, mostly A-codes, in quantities tied to each payer’s usual monthly limits. Medicare requires the supplier to confirm each refill with the beneficiary or caregiver no sooner than 14 calendar days before delivery, to ship no sooner than 10 days before the current supply runs out, and to support any quantity above the usual maximum in the medical record.14 days before the end of the current supply, and that quantities above the usual maximum are supported in the medical record.
